Established by Act of Parliament in 1884 to hold and manage land consisting of the Malvern Hills, common land around Malvern, Colwall, Castlemorton and the Old Hills
*   To keep land as close to nature as possible and encourage wildlife.
*   To secure open space for public recreation and enjoyment.
*   To protect and monitor those with rights as registered commoners.
*   To prevent encroachment.
APART FROM THE ROUTINE WORK OF MAINTAINING THE 3000 ACRES OF LAND AND 100 MILES OF FOOTPATHS, SOME OF THE PROJECTS CARRIED OUT DURING THE YEAR INCLUDED:
Production of the Management Plan for the Malvern Hills Warden with new vehicle
Refurbishment of the Dolphin Fountain at St. Ann's Well.
Rebuilding of the toilets at St. Ann's Well.
Agreement with English Nature on a — Wildlife Enhancement Scheme to obtain grant aid for management work on the Hills and Castlemorton Common.
Purchase of equipment to improve the Board s efficiency and to raise its profile.
Production of new display and video for exhibitions.
Assisting with compiling a special supplement on partnership working published in the Malvern Gazette.
Public meetings inviting questions and providing information.
Preparation of a leaflet explaining management requirements. A copy of the Board s Annual Report is available at Malvern Library.
FUTURE PROJECTS
Submission of a joint bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for grants to improve the amenities and protection of flora and fauna.
Improving information about car parks.
Improvement of Warden Service by training of staff and volunteers.
Encouragement of Community involvement, such as more volunteer help days.



INCOME FOR THE YEAR TO 31st MARCH 2001
The Conservators Levy for 2000/2001 is £291,400 which is equivalent to £22.04 for a Band D equivalent Council Tax Payer (42p per week).
Other estimated income for the year is revenue from car parking (£70,000), and grants totalling £14,000 from English Nature, The Countryside Agency and Worcestershire County Council.

Car parking Permit -If you are a levy payer you are entitled to a Parking permit which costs £2.
-Visitors permit available for £25 per annum.

FUTURE INCOME
The Conservators are working hard to join with other organisations to further the conservation of the Hills and are planning a joint application with the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and English Nature to secure a Heritage Lottery Grant of £1.3 million.
